HIDEGKUTI NÁNDOR STADION

Categories: Szerkezetépítés
Details of the project

The structural construction of the new football complex serving as the home of MTK Budapest began in October 2015, following the demolition of the former, outdated stadium.

Bayer Construct Zrt. was commissioned to carry out the work by the Testgyakorló Kör.
The stands were built using a combination of monolithic and precast reinforced concrete structures.
A key design decision was to rotate the stadium by 90 degrees compared to the previous orientation, in order to meet international standards.
Another important objective was to achieve a “stadium bowl” effect while adapting to the constraints of the site.
As a result, elevated grandstands were built along the two longer sides of the pitch, while the shorter sides behind the goals were enclosed by exposed concrete walls with complex geometries.
One of the major technical challenges was constructing the inward-tilted, three-meter-high sloped wall, which stands as both an architectural curiosity and a response to modern demands.
This wall also supports the massive, key display screens.
The arena on Hungária Boulevard was completed for the 2016/2017 football season, with an investment of HUF 6.31 billion.
Out of the 5,322 seats, 70 were specially designed for spectators with reduced mobility.
The structural construction company proudly refers to this project as a “jewel box” that, with its architectural ingenuity, is fully suited for hosting international matches.
