Bányák

Kvarchomok Kft.

The quarry is located on the western foothills of the Buda Mountains, 28 km from Budapest, in the outer area of Sóskút.

The operation is based on a raw material deposited on a 10-million-year-old river delta, which naturally has an exceptionally high silicon dioxide content.
The material is characterized by high biological and chemical purity, as well as highly abraded, rounded grain shapes.
These properties distinguish the mineral resources owned by the Group from standard construction-grade quarries.
The predecessor company was established in August 1992 as a subsidiary by the National Ore and Mineral Mines Corporation.
Since January 1993, it has been operating as a limited liability company.
The company consists of three interconnected units: an open-pit mining and transport unit, a wet sand washing and drying plant, and a dry classification unit.
By 2024, significant developments were carried out to increase the quarry’s capacity and efficiency, allowing the modernized mining operation to play a leading role in raw material supply in the coming years.
