Tass multifunctional drainage structure

The Tass lock will be built as a water level control structure for the Ráckeve-Soroksár Danube branch. The project presented many challenges: the large differences in height, the considerably different structural thicknesses and the complex geometry put the formwork design engineers at Bayer Construct, the carpenters who made the individual formwork and the structural carpenters and engineers working on site to the test. There were many structural parts requiring custom formwork, but even the standard structural elements were challenging because of their dimensions and geometry. Several structural elements took more than 24 hours to pour. The central structure is 52 meters long, with 4,200 cubic meters of concrete and nearly 500 tonnes of reinforcing steel.
