High Diving
One of the most spectacular events at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships in Budapest was the giant high diving event. The unique 33-meter-high, 65-tonne diving tower was erected on the Danube in front of Batthyány Square in the capital. The construction of the structure and the monolithic reinforced concrete structure of the associated facilities was the work of Bayer Construct. The work involved the installation of 1,250 cubic meters of concrete and the weight of the reinforcing steel used was 103 tonnes. A real challenge was the constantly changing water level of the Danube, which had to be monitored 24 hours a day and the work organized accordingly.
